22 Feb 11 Corolla repair
After the check engine light came on I decided to take my Corolla to a mechanic right down the street (Butch’s Brake & Muffler). That was on Saturday, February 19. On Monday, he figured out that one valve wasn’t fully closing and that caused the hickup (car sputtered and died at the traffic light). He had this just a few weeks ago and it’s not an easy fix.
I had 2 options:
1. Buying an used engine for $500 or
2. Get the head fixed for about the same amount of money (he estimated around $1700). I chose option 2
At the end of the day Butch called me again and said that it was something else. Before he pulled the head off he took a another close look and found a piece of plastic that was obviously causing the problems. He removed it and put the engine back together the following day.
Cost of the repair: $513.97
Budget rental car for 2 Days: $95.83
Total: $609.8

Veränderung ist gut und schön aber mir gefallen weder die behämmerten Flügel noch die kommenden 4 Zylinder Motoren. 4 Zylinder hören sich nicht gut an! Wissen die das nicht? Wenn man schon kleine Motoren haben will dann zumindest einen 5 Zylinder denn die hören sich verdammt gut an! Sogar besser als V8!
KERS ist gut. Da können Hersteller noch ihren Beitrag leisten und es sogar für die Serienproduktion lernen.
Die Motoren sind, wie Illien sagte, keine Herausforderung mehr für die Hersteller. Wenn man Motoren einfrieren will dann sollten zumindest Getriebe ungeregelt lassen. Stufenlose Getriebe wurden verboten! Warum? Weil man diese Technologie für die Serie verwenden könnte? Stufenlose Getriebe sind sogar mit KERS kombinierbar! Solche “Leistungsverzweigte Getriebe” würden dank der F1 einen enormen Entwicklungssprung machen! Und wen interresiert es schon ob ein F1 Bolide in Sekundenbruchteilen schaltet oder stufenlos beschleunigt?
Man möchte mit den kleinen Motoren die Leistung im Zaum halten. Ich denke ein F1 sollte mindesten 800 bis maximal 1000 PS haben. Weniger Downforce macht auch ein 1000 PS Monster nicht gefährlicher. Die Beschleunigung ist besser aber sie wären langsamer in den Kurven. Die Höchstgeschwindigkeit könnte man durch weitere Verschlechterung der Aerodynamik im Zaum halten. Also: Wenigstens 1.5 Liter 5 Zylinder, “Getriebefreiheit” und Verschönerung der Autos (normale Flügel!) und weniger Downforce bei mehr Leistung.

04 Dec 10 Network Windows 7 and Windows XP
So my XP PC could see the Windows 7 PC but couldn’t access the files. So I had to right click the folders I wanted to share on my Windows 7 PC, select “Share with”, click “Nobody” then “Change sharing permissions” then from the drop down menu select “Everyone” and then “Add”. You can also change permissions from only “Read” to “Read/Write” if you, for instance, synchronize folders.
