21 Mar 09 What makes us proud of our nationality

In my opinion it’s simple: You’re proud if you CAN be proud. And society determines WHAT you can be proud of.
You are American, Italian, German or whatever if you’re raised by parents and being surrounded by people living those values. So you can lose “your roots” pretty fast. A lot of people just wish they would still have some italian, irish, german… still in them because people just like certain mentalities. It’s basically good old popularity that makes us proud of our our roots and brag about it…
